Bio
Recruited from the club's own backyard in Seddon, Johnny Miles was a diminutive rover who earned a brief run at VFL level with Footscray in the mid-1960s. Standing just 173cm and with a slight frame, he was a classic pocket-sized midfielder who relied on evasion and speed rather than physical presence to impact contests. He broke into the senior side as a teenager in 1964, managing six appearances in a Bulldogs team that finished just outside the top four, but he struggled to impact the scoreboard or cement a permanent spot in the 18. His top-flight career was confined to that single season, representing a fleeting but notable achievement for the local teenager before he drifted out of the League spotlight.
