Bio
Born in Bendigo, Johnny Power played a fleeting but pivotal role in Fitzroy's early VFL success. A defender by trade, he broke into the Maroons' lineup late in the 1898 season and was thrust into the spotlight when he manned the full-back position in the Grand Final against Essendon in only his seventh career game. Power held his nerve to help secure Fitzroy’s inaugural VFL premiership, cementing his place in club history despite a short tenure at the top level. He added a handful of appearances the following season but missed out on selection for the club's 1899 flag triumph, eventually departing the league with a premiership medallion from just ten senior games.
