Bio
Recruited from North Blackburn, Jon Hummel was a nippy rover and forward pocket who proved to be a dangerous goalkicker when given the opportunity. He commenced his VFL career with Richmond, where he struggled to break into a star-studded senior lineup but carved out a moment of glory by booting six goals in the Tigers' 1977 reserves premiership victory. Seeking greater consistency at senior level, Hummel crossed to South Melbourne in 1979 and made an immediate impact, bagging five goals on debut against Hawthorn in what would become his most productive individual season. Known for his sharp turn of speed and natural goal sense, he played one final season with Collingwood in 1980 before continuing a successful tenure in the VFA with Werribee and Williamstown.
