Jonathon Freeman

Hailing from the Sunshine Coast, Jonathan Freeman holds a unique place in Brisbane Lions history as the first graduate of the club’s Academy to make a senior debut. Secured as a zone selection in the 2013 National Draft, the towering key forward offered a prototypical target inside 50, characterised by his strong contested marking and reliable set-shot kicking. He showed glimpses of his potential early in his career, most notably booting four goals against Collingwood in just his fourth game to close out the 2014 season. However, Freeman's development was constantly interrupted by persistent injury setbacks and an inability to deliver consistent form, leaving him on the fringe of selection during a difficult era for the club. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the Lions' attack, he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season after just 14 appearances.
