Bio
Recruited from East Fremantle, Jonathon Griffin began his career on Adelaide's rookie list, where he developed into a competent ruckman capable of sharing the workload. Despite showing promise during his six seasons at West Lakes, he found himself squeezed out of the premier ruck role by competitors like Ivan Maric and the arrival of Sam Jacobs, prompting a trade request back to his home state of Western Australia at the end of 2010. Joining Fremantle primarily to support Aaron Sandilands, Griffin's athleticism and ability to drift forward made him a valuable asset, particularly when the towering All-Australian was injured. His career-best form in early 2013 was cruelly cut short by a ruptured ACL, and although he returned to add depth to the Dockers' list, he remained largely a backup option until his delisting in 2017.
