Bio
Selected with pick one in the 2011 National Draft, Jonathon Patton was recruited by Greater Western Sydney as the powerful key forward intended to anchor the expansion club's attack. A classical power forward with a dominant contested mark and a penetrating kick, he demonstrated his immense potential during a career-best 2017 campaign, booting 45 goals and proving instrumental in the Giants' push to a preliminary final. However, his time in the game was relentlessly interrupted by significant injuries, including three knee reconstructions that denied him continuity. After falling out of favour in Sydney's crowded forward line, he sought a fresh start via a trade to Hawthorn ahead of the 2020 season, but his stint in brown and gold was short-lived. Patton retired in early 2021 after battling further injury setbacks and mental health struggles following an investigation into off-field inappropriate behaviour.
