Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick 22 in the 2016 National Draft, Jordan Ridley served a patient apprenticeship at Tullamarine before emerging as a defensive cornerstone. After managing just nine senior appearances across his first three years on the list, he seized his opportunity in the 2020 hub season, transforming into an elite intercept defender renowned for his composure and disposal efficiency. This breakout year was capped off with a Crichton Medal victory, validating his status as one of the club's most important talents.

Ridley's playstyle is defined by his ability to read the flight of the ball and intercept opposition attacks, often operating as the loose man in defence while possessing the versatility to lock down on tall forwards when required. His calm distribution by foot allows the Bombers to transition effectively from the back half, making him a dual threat as both a stopper and a playmaker. Although injuries have occasionally stalled his momentum in recent campaigns, he remains a vital structural component of the Essendon backline and has committed his long-term future to the club.
