Bio
Recruited from Terang via the 2009 Rookie Draft, Jordie McKenzie carved out a respectable career at Melbourne through sheer persistence and defensive grit. After being overlooked in the National Draft, he quickly established himself as a hard-nosed run-with player, tasked with shutting down the opposition's most dangerous midfielders. While his kicking lacked polish, his appetite for the contest was elite; he was a prolific tackler who became a favourite of the coaching staff during a lean era for the Demons. McKenzie’s internal standing was best highlighted when he won the club's Coach's Award for three consecutive seasons (2010–2012) and finished fourth in the 2012 Best and Fairest. However, injuries and a loss of form eventually pushed him to the fringes of the best 22, and he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2015 season.
