Bio
A mature-age recruit who carved out a reputation as one of the AFL's most selfless workers, Josh Corbett's path to the top level began in country Victoria before a breakout VFL campaign with Werribee saw him claim the prestigious Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal. Gold Coast utilised special assistance rules to sign the high-endurance forward in 2018, valuing his ability to act as a lead-up link man and his sticky hands in contested marking situations. While he played his best football for the Suns as a connector between the arcs, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in a developing forward line and requested a trade to Fremantle for the 2023 season in search of fresh opportunities. Though his on-field impact at the Dockers was limited to a handful of appearances, he endeared himself to the group as a popular teammate, winning the Best Clubman award in his first season before a severe hip injury forced him to miss the entire 2024 campaign. Corbett ultimately announced his retirement at the end of that year following a full hip replacement, leaving the game as a highly respected figure who transitioned smoothly into coaching roles.
