Bio
Josh Daicos arrived at Collingwood carrying one of the most famous surnames in the club's history, selected as a father-son recruit with pick 57 in the 2016 National Draft. The son of Magpies legend Peter Daicos, he initially struggled to cement a consistent spot in the senior side, spending his early seasons oscillating between the VFL and the AFL as a small forward. While he showed glimpses of the creative flair associated with his family name—including winning the Goal of the Year in 2020—it was his permanent shift to the wing that allowed him to step out of his father's shadow and establish his own identity as a premier ball-winner.
Reinventing himself as an elite outside runner, Daicos became a critical link in Collingwood's transition game, renowned for his composure in traffic and ability to execute skills at high speed. His development accelerated significantly under Craig McRae, culminating in a career-best 2023 season where he earned All-Australian honours, won the Copeland Trophy as the club's best and fairest, and secured a premiership medal alongside his younger brother, Nick. Now with over 150 games to his name, Daicos is firmly established as one of the competition's most damaging wingmen and a senior figure in the Magpies' lineup.
