Bio
Recruited from Subiaco with pick 68 in the 2013 National Draft, Josh Deluca—the younger brother of former AFL ruckman Fabian—initially struggled to break into a strong Fremantle lineup, managing just four senior appearances across four seasons while featuring in Peel Thunder's 2016 and 2017 WAFL premierships. After being delisted by the Dockers, he returned to the WAFL and produced dominant form that culminated in a Simpson Medal performance for Western Australia against the SANFL, prompting Carlton to select him with the number one pick in the re-introduced 2019 Mid-Season Rookie Draft. A high-pressure small forward and midfielder known for his fierce tackling and work rate, Deluca immediately added grit to the Blues' forward line for the remainder of the year but was surprisingly delisted at the season's end as the club pursued other list management strategies.
