Bio
Selected by Richmond with pick 9 in the 2021 National Draft, Josh Gibcus arrived at Punt Road as a highly touted athletic prospect renowned for his elite vertical leap. As a key defender capable of playing above his height, he showed immediate promise in his debut season by effectively reading the play and impacting contests as an intercept marker. However, his momentum was halted by a wretched run of injuries, including a complex hamstring issue that wiped out his 2023 campaign and a ruptured ACL suffered in the opening round of 2024. Regarded as a central pillar of the Tigers' future backline, he enters the next phase of his career focused on durability and re-establishing his place in the senior side.
