Bio
Recruited from Clarence in Tasmania, Josh Green established himself as a dangerous small forward during a difficult era for the Brisbane Lions. Selected with pick 32 in the 2010 National Draft, Green possessed an innate goal sense and the ability to snap truly from tight angles, traits that saw him top the Lions' goalkicking table in both 2014 and 2015. Despite his consistency in front of goal, questions regarding his defensive pressure and endurance eventually led to a surprise delisting by Brisbane at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
Handed a lifeline by Essendon as a delisted free agent, Green made an immediate impact at his new club, adding valuable experience to the Bombers' forward line as the team returned to finals contention in 2017. However, persistent hamstring issues and a significant foot injury interrupted his continuity at Tullamarine, limiting his ability to secure a permanent spot in the best 22. He was delisted for a second time at the end of 2018, finishing his career as a serviceable goal sneak who successfully surpassed the 100-game milestone.
