Recruited from the Western Jets via the 2020 rookie draft, Josh Honey was a dynamic medium forward noted for his speed and powerful kick. The nephew of Olympic pole vaulter Steve Hooker, he utilised his athletic traits to show flashes of promise at senior level, particularly during a focused run of games in the back half of the 2021 season. Despite these glimpses, he struggled to secure a permanent position in the Blues' best 22, often finding himself on the fringes of selection due to fluctuating form and injury interruptions. After managing 17 appearances over four years, Honey was delisted by Carlton following the 2023 season.
