Bio
Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers with pick 44 in the 2000 National Draft, Josh Hunt established himself as a physically robust defender known for possessing one of the most penetrating left-foot kicks in the competition. His ability to launch the ball from deep in defence made him a key weapon in the Cats' transition game during their dynasty era, where he was often entrusted with kick-in duties to bypass opposition zones. A vital component of Geelong's backline, he tasted premiership success in 2007 but faced significant adversity when a ruptured ACL in the 2009 pre-season forced him to miss the entirety of the club's second flag-winning campaign.
Hunt successfully returned to the senior lineup to claim a second premiership medallion in 2011, proving his resilience and solidifying his standing within the playing group. Following the 2013 season, he exercised his free agency rights to join Greater Western Sydney, where he played a final season providing on-field leadership and body strength to a developing list. He retired at the end of 2014 with over 200 games to his name, remembered as a reliable, long-kicking defender who played a crucial role in one of the modern era's greatest teams.
