Bio
Originally a basketball convert, Josh Jenkins began his AFL journey on Essendon's rookie list but was traded to Adelaide without making a senior appearance for the Bombers. He quickly established himself as a key pillar in one of the league's most potent attacks during the mid-2010s. Working alongside Taylor Walker and Eddie Betts, Jenkins presented a unique athletic profile as a 200cm forward with elite running power. While occasionally maligned by critics for his propensity to score goals from the goal square, his ability to work high up the ground as a link-up player and burn opponents off on the return run made him a vital structural component of the Crows' 2017 Grand Final side.
Following a difficult end to his time at West Lakes, where form struggles and internal friction saw him fall out of favour at selection, Jenkins secured a trade to Geelong ahead of the 2020 season. His stint at the Cattery was viewed largely as insurance for an established forward line, and injury combined with selection squeezes limited him to just two games over two seasons. He retired as a highly effective goal kicker who successfully transitioned from the basketball court to become a consistent scoreboard threat at the highest level.
