Bio
Recruited as a mature-age prospect from Redland in the NEAFL, Josh Smith was a workhorse defender and wingman who began his AFL career with Collingwood via the 2016 Rookie Draft. He made a memorable debut on ANZAC Day and quickly established himself as a regular in the senior side during his maiden season, valued for his elite endurance and ability to accumulate uncontested possessions across half-back. However, as the Magpies' list depth improved, Smith found opportunities limited and was delisted following the 2018 season. He was subsequently handed a lifeline by West Coast, where he hoped to provide experienced depth to the Eagles' midfield, but he struggled to break into the senior lineup, adding just two games to his career tally before his time in the AFL system concluded.
