Bio
Recruited from the small New South Wales town of Lockhart via the NSW/ACT Rams, Josh Wooden was a versatile utility who became a reliable fixture at West Coast during a transitionary era for the club. Blessed with genuine pace and strong endurance, he was primarily used as a defensive midfielder or tagger, tasked with shutting down the opposition's most dangerous small forwards or running with elite ball-winners. While he burst onto the scene to win the club's Rookie of the Year award in his debut 1997 season, his career was frequently interrupted by injury and fluctuating form. His best football came in 2002, but his time at the club is somewhat defined by misfortune; despite being named Best Clubman in 2004, persistent hip issues and the emergence of the Eagles' star-studded midfield squeezed him out of the side during the 2005 and 2006 premiership window. He retired in 2007, leaving the game just four matches shy of the 100-game milestone.
