Bio
Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers with pick 56 in the 2010 National Draft, Joshua Mellington arrived at Fremantle as a lively small forward with natural goal sense and strong leading patterns. Despite demonstrating his scoring capacity at WAFL level, his transition to senior football was hampered by recurring hamstring injuries and acute competition for spots within the Dockers' forward line. He managed six games across three seasons at Fremantle before being delisted at the end of 2013. Although cross-town rivals West Coast offered him an immediate lifeline via the Rookie Draft, Mellington was unable to break into the Eagles' senior side and was cut after a single season without adding to his AFL tally, eventually returning to Victoria where he became a prolific goalkicker in country football.
