Bio
Arriving at the Gold Coast Suns with immense expectations, Joshua Toy was secured via the club's 17-year-old concession access scheme, having dominated junior football as a physically advanced prospect often compared to the league's elite utility players. Renowned for his booming, laser-like kicking and ability to read the play from half-back, he was widely tipped to become a cornerstone of the expansion side's defence. However, Toy struggled to transition his junior dominance to the elite level, finding it difficult to meet the rigorous endurance and speed demands of AFL football. Despite flashes of his lethal distribution during his limited opportunities in the Suns' inaugural years, he fell out of favour as the list matured and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
