Bio
Recruited from the small South Australian town of Booleroo Centre, Justin Clarke was a highly intelligent key defender who established himself as a pillar of the Brisbane backline at a remarkably young age. Drafted as a rookie, he quickly earned a senior elevation and became a regular fixture in the side, using his 195cm frame and disciplined spoiling ability to shut down opposition key forwards. Clarke was known for his "bookish" demeanour and ability to balance elite sport with engineering studies, playing with a maturity that belied his lack of experience. However, his promising career was cut short in devastating fashion at just 22 years of age; after suffering a severe concussion during a pre-season training drill in 2016, he was forced to retire on medical advice due to persistent symptoms. He left the game as a respected "what could have been" talent who appeared destined to anchor the Lions' defence for a decade.
