Stats
Bio
A journeyman utility who experienced the cutthroat nature of the AFL system across three different clubs, Justin Clarkson found senior opportunities scarce during his time at the top level. Originally a product of Melbourne's under-19s program in the late 1980s, he was unable to break into the Demons' senior lineup and eventually found his way to the VAFA with Ormond. Clarkson was handed a professional lifeline by the Sydney Swans in 1991, where the 180cm midfielder managed his only three career appearances against Footscray, Essendon, and St Kilda. Despite showing glimpses of talent, he found himself back at Ormond shortly after, only to be recruited by Carlton ahead of the 1992 season. However, joining a powerhouse Blues squad proved a difficult task, and he spent his final year on an AFL list playing in the reserves without adding to his senior tally.
