Bio
Selected with the second pick in the 1998 National Draft, Justin Longmuir arrived at Fremantle as a highly touted tall forward and ruckman. Often playing alongside his brother Troy, he established himself as a versatile key position player known for his silky skills, strong overhead marking, and reliability in front of goal. While he provided valuable support in the ruck, his defining moment came inside the forward 50 during the 2005 season, where he took a contested mark and converted the goal after the siren to secure a victory against St Kilda, cementing his place in club folklore.
Despite his natural ability, Longmuir's time on the field was persistently hampered by a degenerative knee condition. He struggled to string full seasons together, with his body eventually failing him in 2007. Forced into retirement at just 26 years of age with 139 games and 166 goals to his name, he left the game with a sense of unfulfilled potential regarding his on-field output. He has since carved out a significant legacy off the field, serving coaching apprenticeships at West Coast and Collingwood before returning to Fremantle as senior coach in 2020.
