Bio
Recruited from Devonport in Tasmania, Justin Stubbs arrived at Essendon via St Bernard’s College and the Victorian Teal Cup side as a pacy teenage prospect. He made a memorable start to his senior career in Round 12, 1988, achieving the rare feat of booting goals with his first two kicks in league football against Fitzroy at Waverley Park. A natural wingman with a nose for goal, he played two games in his debut season before stepping away from the top level in 1989. He returned for a single appearance in 1990—a win over Richmond where he snagged another two majors—but persistent injuries ultimately forced him into premature retirement, leaving him as a brief but sharp contributor in Bombers history.
