Bio
Recruited from North Geelong, Jack Stevens was a rover and small forward who faced the unenviable task of breaking into one of the most dominant lineups in VFL history. He arrived at Kardinia Park in 1950 but found himself on the fringe of Geelong's golden era, managing just 11 games across three seasons as the Cats claimed back-to-back flags in 1951 and 1952. Unable to cement a regular spot in the star-studded 22, he transferred to South Melbourne in 1953, hoping for more senior opportunities at the Lakeside Oval. However, his stint with the Swans yielded only three appearances, and he left the VFL shortly after. Stevens ultimately made his mark in country football, taking the reins as captain-coach of Lismore in the Western Plains Football League and leading them to a memorable premiership in 1954.
