Bio
Kane Lambert stands as one of the most significant mature-age success stories of the modern era. After being overlooked in multiple national drafts while dominating in the VFL for the Northern Blues and Williamstown, he was finally selected by Richmond with pick 46 in the 2015 Rookie Draft. Lambert quickly established himself as a vital cog in the Tigers' midfield and forward line, renowned for his elite two-way running, high pressure, and ability to link play between the arcs. While rarely the most flashy player on the ground, his work rate and football intelligence made him essential to the high-chaos pressure system implemented by Damien Hardwick.
He played a pivotal role in Richmond's dynasty, securing three premierships in 2017, 2019, and 2020. His value to the club was best reflected in his consistent polling on best and fairest nights, finishing second in the 2017 Jack Dyer Medal and third in 2018. Despite his resilience, a debilitating chronic hip injury severely restricted his availability late in his career, eventually forcing him to retire midway through the 2022 season. He left the field as a highly respected figure who maximised his potential to become a key architect of the Tigers' golden era.
