Bio
Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers with pick 9 in the 2000 National Draft, Kayne Pettifer arrived at Richmond with high expectations as a talented striking forward. Known for his vertical leap and ability to take spectacular marks despite his medium stature, he operated primarily as a half-forward who could turn a game in moments, though he often faced criticism regarding his consistency. After a slow start to his career, he established himself as a regular fixture in the Tigers' senior side by the mid-2000s, producing his best football in 2006 when he played every game and finished second in the club's goalkicking.
Pettifer's career momentum was halted abruptly in Round 12, 2008, when he ruptured his ACL against Melbourne, requiring a knee reconstruction that sidelined him for twelve months. He managed to force his way back into the senior lineup late in the 2009 season but struggled to recapture his previous form and explosiveness. Consequently, he was delisted by Richmond at the end of 2009, concluding his time at Punt Road as a centurion who provided highlights during a lean era for the club but whose tenure was ultimately curtailed by significant injury.
