Bio
Keegan Brooksby was a resilient mature-age recruit who carved out a unique career as a depth ruckman across three different AFL clubs. Originally drafted by Gold Coast from South Adelaide with pick 42 in the 2015 Rookie Draft, he played the majority of his senior football with the Suns, often utilised as a pinch-hitting ruckman or key position utility during an injury-plagued era for the club. After being delisted by Gold Coast in 2017, Brooksby returned to captain South Adelaide in the SANFL before earning two separate lifelines via the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP), a testament to his professionalism and conditioning. West Coast recruited him in 2019 to provide cover for a depleted ruck division, and Hawthorn added him to their list in 2020 under similar circumstances. While he managed only one game for the Eagles and none for the Hawks, Brooksby is remembered as a reliable state-league stalwart whose work ethic saw him repeatedly called upon to provide insurance for AFL lists.
