Bio
Recruited locally from North Footscray, Keith Beamish was a diminutive rover who overcame early setbacks to become a fixture in the Bulldogs' memorable 1961 campaign. Standing just 170cm, the nippy small man found his best form that season, playing 20 consecutive games and earning his place in the side for the Grand Final clash against Hawthorn. However, the decider proved to be a cruel turning point; stationed in a forward pocket, Beamish was forced out of the match with an injury at half-time as the Dogs fell to the Hawks. He spent the following year in the reserves but never managed to reclaim a senior spot, leaving the VFL as a Grand Final player whose promising career was abruptly cut short on the game's biggest stage.
