Bio
A local Abbotsford prodigy who lived every Magpie fan's dream, Keith Bromage was famously plucked from obscurity to make his senior debut at just 15 years of age. For decades, he held the title of the youngest player in VFL/AFL history—a record later revised—but his early emergence saw him skate through the thirds and reserves to be named an emergency for Collingwood's 1953 premiership side. A crafty full-forward and half-forward with a sharp football brain and a long drop kick, he topped the Magpies' goalkicking in 1954, but knee injuries and conditioning battles eventually saw him delisted after the 1957 season. Encouraged by his friend Kevin Murray, Bromage revitalised his career at Fitzroy, where he spent four productive seasons as a reliable goal source and finals contributor before moving into coaching in the ACT and country Victoria.
