Bio
Recruited from VFA club Brunswick, Keith Greig established himself as the premier wingman of his generation after debuting for North Melbourne in 1971. Renowned for his elegant kicking style, blistering pace, and superior overhead marking ability, Greig dominated the wide spaces of the ground during the Kangaroos' rise to power under Ron Barassi. His individual brilliance was acknowledged with back-to-back Brownlow Medals in 1973 and 1974, cementing his status among the game's elite just prior to playing a pivotal role in North Melbourne's maiden premiership victory in 1975.
Greig assumed the captaincy in 1976, leading the club for four seasons during a highly competitive era. As his explosive speed began to wane and injuries took their toll in the latter stages of his career, he reinvented himself as a poised half-back flanker, utilising his elite reading of the play to intercept opposition attacks. He retired in 1985 as one of the most decorated players in VFL history, leaving Arden Street as a one-club player and the undisputed first-choice wingman for the North Melbourne Team of the Century.
