Bio
Born in Deepdene and recruited from the local area while studying engineering, Keith Kent played a brief but memorable cameo as a key defender for the Magpies. His senior debut in Round 3, 1933 was so unexpected that he was pulled from the reserves to replace Jack Regan at the last minute, forcing a spectator in the grandstand to hastily sew the number 15 onto his guernsey before the bounce. Kent took his place at full-back, where he displayed excellent judgement and safe hands against champion forwards like Bob Pratt and Harry Vallence, though his kicking was often cited as a weakness. He held the key defensive post for five consecutive matches, briefly forcing established stars into the pockets, before the selection squeeze saw him return to the seconds. Unable to reclaim a senior berth, he later played for Coburg in the VFA before moving to the country to captain-coach Maryborough.
