Bio
Recruited from the local district, Keith McDonald is best remembered for the unenviable task of replacing the suspended John Coleman during the 1951 finals series. A regular in the reserves where he featured in the 1950 premiership side, the forward earned a late-season call-up for the 1951 Preliminary Final after a timely five-goal haul in the seconds. He retained the full-forward spot for the Grand Final against Geelong but struggled to replicate the output of the league's greatest goalkicker, managing just two majors in the 11-point defeat. His day was summed up by an unfortunate moment in the final term when he collided with captain-coach Dick Reynolds, spoiling a critical marking contest as the Bombers chased the game. McDonald played just one match the following season before crossing to Coburg in the VFA.
