Bio
Recruited from Kerang, Keith Sharpley arrived at Glenferrie Oval as the younger brother of the club's 1930 Best and Fairest winner, Jack Sharpley. A talented all-round athlete who operated primarily as a wingman and half-forward, Sharpley made an immediate impact with his versatility and capacity to take contested marks against larger opponents. His standing in the game rose rapidly, earning him selection for Victoria in 1931—a significant achievement for a player from a struggling Hawthorn side. His League career was ultimately curtailed by his profession as a bank officer, which necessitated a transfer to regional Victoria after just four seasons. Sharpley subsequently became a star in the country leagues, most notably captain-coaching Mortlake to a premiership with a match-winning goal after the siren.
