Bio
Keith Thomas arrived at Fitzroy as a decorated SANFL champion, having already etched his name into Norwood folklore as a dual premiership player and Jack Oatey Medallist. Originally selected by Melbourne with pick 5 in the 1982 interstate draft, he resisted the move to Victoria for several years until David Parkin lured the skilled ruck-rover to the Lions in 1987. Thomas brought elite fitness and uncompromising professional standards to the club, playing as a link-man who combined high work rate with courageous overhead marking. He enjoyed a strong debut season, finishing in the top ten of the best and fairest, before severe ankle and thigh injuries derailed his 1988 campaign. Thomas eventually returned to the SANFL to complete a 300-game state league career before establishing a significant off-field legacy as the long-serving CEO of the Port Adelaide Football Club.
