Bio
Recruited from the Bentleigh Tigers, Kelvin Richards was a promising tall forward who progressed through Melbourne's scholarship squad and underage ranks, notably winning the Fourths Best and Fairest in 1976. After working his way through the reserves, he broke into the senior lineup as an 18-year-old during the 1978 season. Richards made five appearances over two years and represented the Demons in the 1978 Grand Final sprint, but his time at the highest level was abruptly ended by a serious knee injury sustained against Richmond early in the 1979 season. Following his recovery, he moved to the VFA, playing for Caulfield under former Melbourne captain Hassa Mann and later suiting up for Sandringham.
