Bio
Recruited from local outfit South Merlynston, Ken Aitken was a versatile ruck-rover and back pocket player who faced a true baptism of fire, making his senior debut on Richmond legend Jack Dyer. While he struggled to cement a permanent spot in Carlton's senior lineup, he was a dominant force in the lower grades, capping his time at Princes Park with a Reserves Best and Fairest and a premiership in 1951. He crossed to arch-rivals Collingwood the following season in search of greater opportunities and enjoyed his most consistent campaign, playing 17 games and earning selection as a reserve for the 1952 Grand Final against Geelong. After a brief stint at Victoria Park and a move to Coburg, Aitken returned to Carlton as a respected Under-19s coach, where he played a pivotal role in mentoring future club icons like Sergio Silvagni.
