Bio
A product of the goldfields town of Maldon, Ken Collicoat arrived at Windy Hill via the Carlton reserves after failing to crack the Blues' senior lineup. A half-back by trade, he managed just two senior appearances for Essendon during the 1944 season, though he certainly enjoyed the results—featuring in massive victories over North Melbourne and St Kilda at home. While his VFL career was fleeting, continuing with Brunswick in the VFA and later captain-coaching East Launceston in Tasmania, Collicoat achieved greater prominence post-football as a highly respected first-class cricket umpire who officiated Sheffield Shield and international tour matches at the MCG.
