Bio
Recruited from Mortlake in the rich footballing territory of the Western District, Ken Gladman was a versatile utility who slotted into the Geelong lineup during the late 1960s. Standing 183cm, he was capable of playing through the centre or on a flank, offering a steady hand alongside the club’s superstar midfield of Polly Farmer and Billy Goggin. After finding his feet with limited opportunities in his first two seasons—missing out on the Cats’ 1967 Grand Final side—Gladman became a regular contributor in 1968 and again in 1970. Despite playing a career-high 15 games in his final season and polling Brownlow votes, he departed the VFL scene at just 24 years of age, leaving behind a brief but respectable legacy as a reliable country recruit who held his own in a talented era at Kardinia Park.
