Bio
Recruited from Coburg in the VFA, Ken Lippiatt arrived at Hawthorn during the turbulent years of the Second World War. The younger brother of Essendon centreman Harry Lippiatt, he joined the Mayblooms after serving as a private in the Volunteer Defence Corps, finally earning his debut in Round 15 of the 1944 season. Standing at just 173cm, Lippiatt was a compact defender who played a diligent lockdown role; with zero goals to his name across his 30-game career, his game was defined by defensive accountability rather than attacking flair. He remained a consistent selection in the backline through to the end of 1946, providing stability during a period where team lists were frequently disrupted by military service requirements, before departing the VFL scene as the competition returned to peacetime normality.
