Bio
A diminutive rover standing just 173cm, Ken Luscombe arrived at South Melbourne following the path of his older brother, John, who had managed a solitary senior appearance for the club in 1968. Luscombe broke into the senior lineup under legendary coach Norm Smith in Round 7, 1969, retaining his spot for seven matches as a follower during a transitional season for the Swans. While he demonstrated he could win the ball in the packs, he struggled to impact the scoreboard or cement a permanent place in the midfield rotation at the Lake Oval. His VFL career was short-lived, and he departed the top level at a young age to transfer to Mitcham in the Eastern Districts Football League in 1971; there, he reunited with his brother and established himself as a key figure in the suburban club's engine room.
