Bio
A product of the local Avondale Heights club, Ken Mansfield was a combative rover who worked his way through the Essendon Under 19s to debut as a teenager in 1976. Standing just 176cm, he made up for his lack of height with a sturdy frame and a fierce desire to win the contest, often employing physical tactics that unsettled opponents. His standing at Windy Hill peaked in 1979 when he was recognised as the club’s Most Improved Player, becoming a serviceable contributor in the midfield rotation. Despite this progress, he was unable to secure a permanent long-term position in the senior side and departed the VFL after the 1980 season, continuing his career in the SANFL with Woodville before returning to Victoria for stints with Sandringham and Coburg in the VFA.
