Born in Fremantle and educated at Caulfield Grammar, Ken Nicolson arrived in the region via a remarkable professional appointment, becoming the foundation Head of the Geelong College Preparatory School at just 18 years of age. While establishing his academic career, he broke into the Geelong senior side in 1923, serving as a capable utility who contributed seven goals across his 23 appearances. His VFL career was short-lived, concluding just a year prior to the club's maiden premiership, as he shifted his focus toward local sport, eventually becoming a founding father of the Geelong Amateur Football Club and a Victorian amateur representative. Though his stint at the top level was brief, Nicolson is best remembered as a community pillar, dedicating decades of his life to Geelong College as a beloved housemaster and sports coach.
