Bio
Arriving in the VFL via a contentious path, Ken Seymour was a burly follower who crossed from VFA club Brunswick after a tribunal dispute led him to vow he would never play in the Association again. He was thrown a lifeline by Fitzroy as a mature-age recruit in 1956, but his time at the Lions was fleeting, managing just four senior appearances before making a rare mid-season switch to South Melbourne. Standing 185cm and weighing over 100kg, Seymour was an imposing physical presence who surprisingly possessed the aquatic athleticism of a state-level breaststroke swimmer—a talent later eclipsed by his Olympic swimmer son, Ross. He played out the remainder of the 1956 season with the Swans and added two more games the following year, eventually returning to the VFA to become the inaugural captain-coach of Sunshine.
