Bio
Recruited from Seymour in the Goulburn Valley, Ken Whitfort was a versatile tall forward who showed glimpses of potential during a disjointed stint with Melbourne. He debuted as an 18-year-old in 1978 and proved to be a capable avenue to goal in his first two seasons, but he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup and spent the entirety of 1980 and 1981 in the reserves or on the supplementary list. Seeking greater opportunity, Whitfort moved west in 1982 to play for Perth in the WAFL, where he managed seven senior appearances. He returned to the Demons in 1983 for one final attempt at VFL football, but was unable to break back into the senior side, concluding his time at the club as a solid servant of the reserves who couldn't quite bridge the gap to regular senior football.
