Bio
Recruited from Brunswick City, Kerry Haywood was a towering ruckman who served North Melbourne during the club’s transitional period in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Standing at 193cm, he was a significant physical presence in the contest, often shouldering the rucking duties against some of the league's most formidable big men. Haywood became a regular fixture in the senior side following his 1968 debut, accumulating 55 games over five seasons as the Kangaroos began assembling the core list that would eventually dominate the ensuing decade. However, his tenure at Arden Street concluded at the end of 1972, just prior to the arrival of Ron Barassi and the club's subsequent golden era. While he missed out on VFL premiership glory, Haywood later found success in the VFA, where he famously returned to the field to feature in Camberwell's celebrated 1979 premiership victory.
