Bio
Recruited from Echuca, Kevin Betson was a highly rated country talent who Richmond pursued for several seasons before finally securing his signature in 1952. A tall key defender who had previously won a McNamara Medal with Kyabram Imperials, he used his 187cm frame to hold down central defensive posts during a lean era for the Tigers. He remained a consistent figure in the backline for four years, playing 42 senior games before departing the VFL to become captain-coach of Morwell. Betson continued his career in the Latrobe Valley, where he served as a prominent leader and representative player for the Gippsland league.
