Bio
Recruited from local club Moonee Ponds YCW, Kevin Egan arrived at Essendon as a highly touted junior, winning the Morrish Medal as the VFL's best under-19s player in 1962. Standing just 173cm, he was a solidly built rover and wingman known for his fierce determination and ability to win his own ball against larger opponents. His crowning on-field achievement came in 1965 when he started on the bench in the Bombers' Grand Final victory over St Kilda, securing a premiership medallion in just his third season. After battling to cement a permanent senior spot—evidenced by his best-on-ground performance in the 1968 reserves premiership—he departed in 1970 to play for Port Adelaide in the SANFL and later Williamstown in the VFA. Egan's influence at Windy Hill extended far beyond his playing days, as he returned to serve as team manager during the club's 1984–85 premiership era and later as a board director, eventually earning induction into the Essendon Hall of Fame.
