Bio
Recruited from Donnybrook, Kevin Healy was a lightly built left-footer whose entry into the VFL was initially delayed by National Service training. He showed early promise as a flanker during the 1959 pre-season but was limited to just two senior appearances and a solitary goal for Collingwood, often feeling he was being played out of position in the forward line. Seeking regular senior football in his preferred defensive role, he transferred to Murchison in the Goulburn Valley League midway through 1960, where he eventually played in three premierships and won three club best and fairest awards. Healy is perhaps best remembered for a specific moment of vindication in 1962, when he represented a combined Goulburn Valley side in a practice match against Collingwood and produced a best-on-ground performance at centre half-back to upstage his former teammates.
