Hailing from the storied football program at St Patrick's College in Ballarat, Kevin Hogan arrived at Punt Road with a fearsome reputation as a junior goalkicker, once bagging a massive 25 goals in a single school match. Standing just 170cm, he was a versatile small forward who split his time between roving and resting in the forward pocket, providing the Tigers with a sharp option near goal during the early 1950s. Despite showing promise with 10 goals from his 15 senior appearances, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the starting XVIII and left the VFL after just two seasons. He later continued his football journey in local leagues, notably serving as senior coach for Airport West in 1955, and was eventually recognised for his junior dominance with selection in St Patrick's College's Centenary All-Star team.
